The term “Bocconotto” refers to different confectionery preparations: in the Bitonto area, Bocconotto is made with ricotta; in Abruzzo, the region of birth of this cake, it is offered in several varations, some filled with grape jam, others with honey. 

Its name alludes to the fact that it is a cake “to be eaten in one bite”.

Pasticceria Giotti’s Bocconotto consists of a fragrant, intensely scented shortcrust pastry base, filled with a soft lemon-flavoured almond filling and marasca cherry jam, a type of cherry that is rare to find on the market and has a more bitter taste than traditional cherry. 

This sweet in its simplicity is an emblem of the Giotti family and the town of Giovinazzo.
